Deluxe, frequently asked questions page.
Q: Does Speaking
Email Deluxe work with Internet connection sharing or LAN connections or
similar.
A: Yes, Microsoft Internet connection sharing is
fully compatible with Speaking Email Deluxe. The main thing to remember
is, if your normal email program works over your ICS or LAN, then
Speaking Email Deluxe will too. You don't need to set any proxy settings
etc. this is just like a standard email program and uses just the same
communication methods.

Q: Will Speaking Email
Deluxe work with MSN and HOTMAIL accounts
A: We aren't sure at the moment whether it will
work with MSN accounts, but we are aware that HOTMAIL users can pay a
fee to Microsoft to enable POP3 access to their accounts. To be honest,
you would be better off getting a Yahoo account, which is free to use
POP3 with.

Q: Why do I keep
getting an 'ERROR 52, socket write error?'
A: Many people email me asking me why they are
getting this error. This could mean one of the following, Your POP3
password is incorrect, your POP3 server address is incorrect, your POP3
username is incorrect or your POP3 account is being used by another
program. Please try the following.
Start up your normal email program, now
create/add a new email account. Use the EXACT same details that you are
using in Speaking Email Deluxe to set up the POP3 account in your normal
email program.
Now try to check your account with your email
program. Does it check it? the answer is probably NO, which means you
are entering something incorrectly. Please DOUBLE and TRIPLE check your
server settings and more importantly, you POP3 password, then try again.

Q: The on line logger doesn't seem to be working, what's wrong?
A: The online logger will ONLY WORK if you are using a Dial Up
Connection. If you have select the 'Permanent connection' option in
settings, then the logger won't work. This is because when you have a
DSL or Cable modem connection which is always on, the logger would just
keep on logging, hour upon hour.

Q: I always get the message 'cannot connect the
email engine, you could have problems checking for e-mail. then:
Error:-71 see attach not called'. How can I fix this?
A: You need to delete a file from your computer.
Do a search (in windows) for a file called see32.dll
You
probably get TWO version of the file appear in the search window. You
need to delete the file that IS NOT 71KB in size. If you are unsure,
then just delete the OLDEST file which is probably in c:\windows\system
This
should solve your problem.

Q: Since downloading an
update, I get the error 'Unexpected error' What do I do now?
A:
This is a problem with the MsAgent core file. Here is a work around to
get you going. Perform a search using windows for the following file
(make sure ALL MsAgent programs are NOT RUNNING) 'agentctl.dll'
. When the search has completed, you should see at least 1
file showing. now DELETE all instances of agentctl.dll
When
you have done this, go to the installation folder for Speaking Email
Deluxe, c:\program files\speaking email
deluxe and DOUBLE CLICK the file called agent.exe. This will RE INSTALL
the MsAgent core files and should fix the error you are getting.

Q:
I
get this error on screen some times, Max (or another name) is not
listening, Speech input is not available in English
A: RIGHT
click the character and choose 'Alter Character Properties'. Now click on the
Speech Input tab at the top of the new window.
In here, UN
CHECK the box that says 'Characters listen for input'.
The reason you get this message is because you
don't have a Speech Recognition Engine installed. If you want to
download a free Speech Recognition engine then
Click Here to connect to the Microsoft download site. The download
is approx. 6MB in size. UK Speaking Clock does support speech
recognition but it is not essential or required.

character does not have any sound effects, please tell me how to turn
them on. A: First of all not all
characters have sound effects. E.g. Max doesn't have sound effects but
Merlin does. Turn turn the sound effects

you still don't have sound effects then try this.
Go
in to the Character tab of Speaking Email Deluxe. Now look for a button
at the right hand top, just below the TEST button. It will say Click
here to alter *character's* properties. Click on the button and the
MsAgent character window will appear. In here go to the 'Output'
